Why WIME?
I have some questions for all of the visitors to this page. I will answer first to explain why I created WIME (such a catchy name..) and then you can tell all of us about you!
1. Where are you based (university)? Where are you from?
2. What do you study? Professional aspirations?
3. What makes you interested in studing medical entomology?
4. What are the challenges in your career?
5. What kind of things would you like an association to provide for you and your career?
6. What kind of future events would you like? (conferences, partenerships, etc)
Anything else?

For me…
1. Student at UC Davis in Entomology. Origionally from Missouri
2. We study dengue fever virus, although previously I studied West Nile virus. I am still unclear about my professional aspirations - maybe a professor, but I hope to be a world-travelling researcher.
3. I think vector-borne diseases are very important to human health (and I would make a crappy doctor).
4. Challenges so far have been staying in grad school and not going back to Guatemala (where I spent the last, stress-free year!). Finding a thesis topic is of course also difficult.
5. I am hoping that WIME will grow into a community of researchers around the world to provide general support to women in this field. I would love to have a conference in a year or so connected with ASTMH so that we could for a formal society. Mentorship is another role I hope the society to fill and I would like to recruit role models and mentors in our field. And there are many, many more things I have in mind for WIME, including a future name change, but I really want to hear from other people before I get too far along.
6. Future events - lots of things, but we’ll see what you all want first.

I think this is a fabulous idea. I am an Entomology grad student at UCR and I will spread the word! We need a means of staying connected and networking.
